First of all let me thank you for taking the time to read and explore the year 4 class page, I do hope that you have all had a marvellous summer and I know that we will have a fabulous term together.

Our topics for RE are:
CREATION & THE STORY OF ABRAHAM TO JOSEPH
In this unit the children will hear and learn about some important stories from the Book of
Genesis. They will explore some important images of God found in these stories and consider what it mean for human beings to be made in the image and likeness of God.
JESUS TEACHES US HOW TO PRAY
In this unit the children will learn about the prayer life of Jesus as he grew up in the Jewish faith. The children will be introduced to some prayers from the Old Testament and they will consider the importance Jesus attached to prayer. The children will study the Our Father, the prayer of the Rosary and some other forms of prayer as part of this unit.
Our topic this term is World's Kitchen, we will be learning:
How to use maps and atlases to locate continents, oceans and countries around the world.
How to extend their knowledge and understanding beyond the local area and the United Kingdom to include Europe, North and South America.
Traditional cuisines which belong to different countries around the world.
About the safe use of tools and equipment by undertaking a range of practical tasks, such as making products and cooking.
How to use constructive feedback to improve what they design.
In science Open wide- let’s take a look inside! We’re on a voyage of discovery to investigate the busy world inside your body!

PE sessions in Maryvale- Outdoor session every Monday
Indoor session every Friday
Homework- Handed out every Friday and collected on a Wednesday (can be handed in before.)
Spellings- Given out on a Wednesday and children will be tested on a Monday.
