Religious Education - People Who Help Us

This half term we are learning about 'People Who Help Us'.  In this unit of work, we will be learning about God's family -  Our community, the role of the priest, saints and other people who help us in our lives.  We will also be learning about the help that Jesus gave to people when they needed it.

This half term our 'Values and Virtues' are 'Eloquent and Truthful'.  We will be thinking about how we clearly articulate what we believe and feel and how we must do this with integrity and in a truthful way.

Religious Education - Lent

This half term we are learning about Lent.  In this unit of work, we will be learning about some of the Church's customs for the Season of Lent.  The children will hear about Lent being a special time of prayer and a time of saying sorry and asking for God's forgiveness.

Values and Virtues - Spring 2 2020 Faith-Filled and Hopeful

This half term our 'Values and Virtues' are 'Faith-filled and Hopeful'.  We will be thinking about how we embrace of faith and how we share it with those around us.

Religious Education - Baptism

This half term we are learning about Baptism.  During this unit we will be learning about the church building being an important gathering place for God's family.  The children will learn about some of the important symbols and actions of the Baptism Rite.

This half term, our Virtues and Values are to be 'Compassionate and Loving'.  We will be thinking about how we give and receive love and how we show compassion to each other.

Bird Feeder Update - 31.1.20

Today we went to check on our bird feeders.  We went to investigate if the birds had eaten anything.  We found that only two bird feeders had been eaten and the rest were still full!  So we changed our location and we will go back on Monday to see if anything changes.  We did wonder if any squirrels had eaten some as many feeders were on the floor.  Also, all of the bird seed had gone Interesting!....

This half term we are learning about 'People who care for us'.  This unit of work will explore family relationships and how we love and care for one another.  The importance is placed upon the value of celebration - weddings, birthdays and Baptism.

This half term, we are learning about Creation.  This unit of work introduces the children to God the Creator.  We learn that the Bible is God's book.  The children experience retelling the story using pictures and drama.  We also learn to recognise the gifts and talents which God has given us.  During this unit, we plan and hold our first class collective worship.

This half term, our Virtues and Values are 'Grateful & Generous'. The children are growing to be grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessing of each day; and generous with their gifts, now and in the future.

Radishes - Today we harvested our radishes. We washed and ate them. From seed to mouth!

Fr John came to visit us today. We had planned lots of questions to ask him about his vocation of being a priest.  We then went on to sing some songs together, show him our classroom and even taste some bread from Mass.  We had a great time and learnt so much about what it is like to be a priest.  Could this be our vocation?

Growing and planting - we went on a walk around the school ground to make observational drawings of different kinds of plants and flowers.
